Each year the Sonoma County Harvest Fair selects four outstanding members of the Sonoma County agricultural community to be honored for their contributions to the preservation and enhancement of farming in Sonoma County. The Ag-Recognition selection committee is comprised of past recipients and a chairman which, for 2011, is Steve Dutton, owner of Dutton Ranch and Dutton-Goldfield Winery.
This year the Sonoma County Harvest Fair Board of Directors is proud to honor the following people for the 2011 Agricultural Recognition Awards:
Oliver's Markets was selected as Friend of Sonoma County Agriculture in recognition of their commitment to promoting Sonoma County products in their Cotati and Santa Rosa stores. In April, 2011, Oliver's Markets became the first grocery chain in Sonoma County to achieve Green Business Certification.
Domenico Carinalli Jr. is this year’s recipient of the award for Lifetime Contribution to Sonoma County Agriculture presented by Sonoma County Harvest Fair. Domenico has been one of the pivotal figures of Sonoma County agriculture through his leadership role the Sonoma County and California Farm Bureau. He owns D & L Carinalli Vineyards with his wife, Lynda, as well as the 500-acre Carinalli Dairy in Sebastopol, CA.
Brent Young is this year’s Outstanding Young Person in Agri-Business selected by Sonoma County Harvest Fair. Brent was selected for his outstanding community service and leadership roles in the industry. He has served as Jordan Vineyard & Winery's viticulturalist since 2008 and has recently started the vineyard's certification process for the new Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing program.
Ryan Petersen has been selected as Outstanding Young Farmer by the Sonoma County Harvest Fair. Ryan is following his family tradition of developing high quality sustainable vineyards, through his work and ownership of Petersen Land Management. He is also an active member of the Geyserville Kiwanis and volunteered with the Geyserville Fire Department.
